One of the advantages of Vector based graphics is they can be easily edited once the artwork is created. Hugely helpfull for making quick changes to the final composition of the artwork without having to redraw.

Vector Graphics don't rely on pixels either, so in theory, if you were able to print to size, you could place a banner across the Empire State Building and not loose clarity!
Vector based artwork in the right hands is also very 'clean' artwork with it's smooth blended tones and crisp edges, combine these features with the fact Vector art is not pixel reliant and it's the obvious choice for Illustration work.
